The domain name for my startup was released into the pool, and NameBright’s child company, (HugeDomains.com) grabbed it during the drop. I registered for an account, and placed a bid. I was about to obtain it for $100 – which would have been perfectly reasonable – until literally 1 minute before it was done, it shot up to exactly $100 below my max bid ($1,100 – my max was $1,200). Super shady. There is no doubt in my mind (and everyone that I talk to agrees) that these people up-bid their own auctions to rob people out of thousands of dollars. If your domain gets into their hands, beware of entering a high bid. They will most likely up-bid the auction at the last minute right below what your max bid is. Or, better, yet, avoid these thieves at all costs!
